Tau-13: Monoclonal Antibody to Tau
NU 2000-081
Inventor
Lester Binder
Short Description
Tau-13 is a mouse monoclonal antibody (mAb) that binds to human tau.
Abstract
Researcher Lester Binder has created a series of useful antibodies that are specific for the human tau protein. This particular antibody, Tau-13 mAb, is of the IgG1 subtype and would be useful to researchers who wish to detect human tau in solid phase assays as it has a remarkably high affinity for the immunogen. Preliminary assignment of its epitope indicates that it maps to amino acid residues 2-18 on the longest isoform of human tau. The Tau-13 mAb was derived from a hybridoma cell line created through the fusion of SP2/o myeloma cells with splenocytes from a mouse immunized with the polymeric form of the longest human tau isoform. The hybridoma cell line was subcloned four times and stored in frozen liquid nitrogen. Preliminary assignment of its epitope indicates that it maps to amino acid residues 2-18 on the longest isoform of human tau.
Applications
- Research Tool: Protein Analysis ELISA
- Immunoblotting
- Immunohistochemistry
- Immunoprecipitation
Advantages
- High Affinity Specific for human - Not immunoreactive with bovine, murine, or rat tau
IP Status
